Uni-Solar PVL-116 Flexible Solar Panel – 116 watts. New panels, purchased for a project that wasn’t ever built. 116 Watt Brand New PowerBond 30 Volt Amorphous Solar Panels with Top Facing MC3 Connector Cables. These are new panels from old stock and are still in 2 new cartons of 20 panels each. They are in brand new condition. Uni-solar PVL-116 flexible panels are no longer made and are getting harder to obtain by the day. These panels are 116-watt flexible panels that are lightweight and have a peel and stick pressure-sensitive adhesive backing that needs no additional mounting hardware. Designed specifically for flat metal (standing seam), and rubber (EPDM) roofs, but they also work great for RV, boat, and truck trailer applications because of the low profile and they don’t require any roof perforation. If adhered to a clean metal or rubber surface and pressed down firmly with a roller, they adhere very well on sloped and curved surfaces. They are also perfect for portable solar power generators as they can be rolled up into a 16″ box and transported, and are popular as rooftop panels on RVs, campers, Quonset huts, metal standing-seam roofs, etc… due to the low profile, flexibility, and lack of wind resistance. Uni-Solar marketed these as «panels», but are really more like «solar shingles». These flexible panels have a couple of distinct advantages over rigid panels: – They don’t lose efficiency at higher temperatures as most rigid panels do. These maintain efficiency and flexibility in all temperature ranges from winter to summer. – Individual laminate layers convert red, green, and blue light into electricity to operate in the full spectrum. Even on a cloudy day, these panels will produce some electricity. Many rigid panels only work in full sun. – The 20 individual cells on each panel are wired with bypass diodes that allow each cell to function independently so that the panel can continue to produce electricity under partial shading, when dusty, or some snow. Rigid panels typically shut down completely if partially shaded. Most rigid panels on the market shut down completely if partially shaded. These continue to produce power from the cells that aren’t shaded. – Extremely durable – Rigid panels have glass that can crack or shatter when hit with hail, baseballs, etc.. The flexible laminates on these panels can’t crack or break. Multiple panels can be wired together either in series or in parallel to meet your power needs or inverter specs. Certified by Miami-Dade County in Florida to be suitable for installation in hurricane areas. Once adhered properly, they can withstand high winds, or on an RV rooftop at freeway speeds. They then drove self-tapping screws through the protruding ends of the metal strips onto their metal roof, sealed with a proper caulk. This allowed them to install the panel with its built-in sticky backing and yet keep the installation non-permanent. Each cell is connected to each other via bypass diodes. Therefore, if one cell is shaded or soiled, only the power output of this one shaded cell is lost – usually less than 4.5%.These panels are less than 1/5th the weight of crystalline solar panels and are designed for membrane and metal roofing system applications. Uni-Solar Finished L-Strip Amorphous Solar Cells 7.5W 1.6V – Box of 100 Total Uni-Solar Finished L-Strip AA 7.2W 1.6V Amorphous Solar Cell PVL DIY – Box of 100 This is a box of 100 Solar Cells with Tabs that Uni-Solar manufactured to assemble into the ePVL Series solar panel. This box of solar cells came from the main manufacturing plant in Michigan during the 2012 liquidation of United Solar Ovonic the parent company who made the Uni-Solar PVL and ePVL solar panels. These cells were used to manufacture the ePVL or enhanced PVL solar panels that came in various power configurations up to 144 watts. These cells are made on Stainless Steel base coated with Amorphous Silicon which products an efficiency of between 6 and 7 percent.   Maximum Power (Pmax): 7.5 Watts [Average PMax of lowest Average Pmax box] Max Power Voltage (Vmpp): 1.60 Volts Max Power Current (Impp): 3.875 Amps Open Circuit Voltage (Voc): 2.05 Volts Short Circuit Current (Isc): 5.397 Amps [Average Isc of lowest Average Pmax box] Cell Size is 14″ L x 10″ W (35.56 cm L x 25.4 cm W) Box of 100 weighs approximately 32 Pounds We have many lots of these cells and they may have cosmetic blemishes that are different from the 10 cells shown in the photos.   Condition: New These solar cells are raw (meaning non-encapsulated) and have no weather proofing and will need to be encapsulated from moisture. In comparison to CIGS solar cells these cells can withstand weather better and we have actually left a cell outside for over a year through rain and heat and it still produces good power. I must say these are very robust cells for do-it-yourself applications. The output of 1.6 volts is about 3 times the voltage of a standard solar cell. So when combining them to create a 6-volt output to charge USB devices or 12-volt output to charge your typical car battery you will need to connect 1/3 the number of cells.
